Annual Christmas Tree Burn

Since moving here we have taken on a new tradition....in January, the Montana City Fire Dept does their Annual Christmas Tree Burn and we absolutely LOVE going to it!!! The kids have been talking about it for weeks now wondering when the BIG BON FIRE was going to happen and this last weekend was the time. We told the kids about it and they bothered us ALL day Sat. wondering if it was time to head over to the field where it takes place. The kids had an awesome time watching all the old, dead Christmas trees light up. Anyhow....here are some pics from the event.....

The firefighters just starting to light the fire. Last year they slowly walked around the entire mountain of trees slowly lighting them up. This year they must have put some gas or something on the trees so they just all lit up with one spark!!
The kids cheered with excitement

They had soooo much fun watching the fire. They were also very interested in how hot is was for them standing this far away from the fire.

It was a HUGE BONE FIRE....just like they were asking for

They loved every second
We let the kids decide when it was time to go (since this is a once a year kind of thing)

The kids all wanted their pics taken with the fire.... Kaden was first....
Then Saige.....
Finally Aspynn....

After the bon fire we took the kids to Dairy Queen for some ice cream. They had sooooo much fun...they are ready to do it again next year!!!

Not just another weinee roast, thats for sure!! Aren't you glad you don't have to be sure the fire is fully out before you go home?? Looks like a great way to get rid of your Christmas tree!!!!
